What was Home Improvement?
Home Improvement is a sitcom about Tim Taylor, the accident prone host of a television program about tools, who raises his dysfunctional family. Jill Taylor is Tim's wife. Wilson Wilson is Tim's neighbor. Al Borland is Tim's flannel-wearing co-host on Tool Time, his television show. Heidi Keppert is the attractive Tool Time girl on his show. Brad, Randy, and Mark Taylor are Tim's three sons.
Who did Jonathan Taylor Thomas play?
Jonathan Taylor Thomas played the part of the middle son of 3, Randall William Taylor also known as Randy. Randy is probably the funniest of the 3 boys and the one that got into the most trouble in the earlier series. As he got older he became the brainiest of the 3 boys and got into less trouble. Randy had 3 relationships these were Beth, Michelle Russell and Lauren. Randy moved away in series 7 for a year away at Costa Rica with his girlfriend Lauren. Randy perhaps got the best parts of his mother and his father as from Jill (his mother) he got the brains and from Tim (his father) he got his sense of humor.
What were the other characters like?
Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor, Randy's father was the main character in the sitcom, Home Improvement. Tim was funny and very much accident prone. He ran his own tool show called "Tool Time" and was a very good father with a very good relationship with his wife and 3 sons. Tim Allen played the part of Tim Taylor.

Jill Taylor, Randy's mother was Tim's wife and training in psychology. She too was funny and very brainy, she elected to go back to school to study psychology. Jill Taylor was played by Patricia Richardson.

Brad Taylor, Randy's oldest brother was not very bright in school and concentrated more on relationships and soccer. Randy and Brad had the strongest relationship during the early seasons of the show. Brad Taylor was played by Zachery Ty Bryan.

Mark Taylor, Randy's youngest brother was always the "outcast", he didn't really have his fathers sense of humor and didn't really have a very good relationship with his brothers Randy and Brad. Mark had the strongest relationship in the early series with his mother, Jill. Mark enjoys filming and directing. Mark Taylor was played by Taran Smith.

Al Borland was the co-host of Tool Time with Tim Taylor. Al Borland was played by Richard Karn.

Wilson Wilson was the neighbor of the Taylor family and often gave advice to Tim Taylor and the rest of the family. Wilson Wilson was played by Earl Hindman.

Later in the series saw the introduction to other family members, these were Marty who was Tim Taylor's brother, Jeff another of Tim's brothers, Claire and Gracie who were Marty's daughters.
